About Me
I am an amateur photographer and was born in Bakersfield, CA in 1948. I was inspired by Edward Weston's "Daybooks" which I read while a student at the University of Notre Dame from 1966-1970. The photos on this website were taken with a Nikon D2x, but I spent years with an 8x10 view camera in Ireland and a Hasselblad, working with contact prints in a darkroom.
I am married to Dru. Nicholas, my son (dating Rebecca) and Laura, my daughter (married to Mario) continue to inspire me to see new things.
Photography is the art of creating an image with light, but it is also a three-way relationship: the photographer to the subject matter, and the subject matter with the viewer. This also forms a connection between the photographer and the viewer.
To the extent that you enjoy these photos, you relate to me and I to you. You see a moment in time that I did, and perhaps you bring your own life experiences to the photo that I do not and thus, you see the image differently.
It's an honor to share my visions with you.
God's light and God's hand is seen everywhere on Earth. The light changes from moment to moment, creating different moments that are gone in the bat of a butterfly wing. Perhaps tomorrow my son will put up another photo that I have taken. I thank him for his maintenance of this site. I thank my daughter, my best model, for her patience, and I thank my wife, Dru, for her encouragement.
